Kyoto District Court gives a 1 year and 10 month sentence to man who hit 6-year-old child
On July 5th, the trial of defendant Makoto Kuramoto (36) who has a painting business was held in Kyoto District Court. Kuramoto had inflicted a serious wound by hitting on the 6-year-old daughter of the woman he lived with. The judge Kennichi Emi sentenced him to one year and ten months of prison although the prosecutor requested a 3 year sentence.
The judge Emi severely criticized him in the judgment statement, saying it is outrageous that the defendant used unrestrained violence on a child victim who was in an overwhelmingly weak situation.
According to the judgment and other sources, on the evening on November 22nd in 2011, the defendant Kuramoto committed violence against the daughter (6) of the woman he lived with because he was angry the girl had burst into tears. He hit her face with his fist at his home, resulting in serious injuries including left orbital bone fracture which took two months to heal.
