Osaka Prefectural Police sent documents to the public prosecutor's office concerning the charging of a mother on causing injury in her 2-years-old daughter abuse
On June 11th, the Osaka Police Office investigation section 1 sent documents to the public prosecutor's office concerning the charging of a mother (31) who is unemployed and lives in Minamishinmachi, Matsubara City, Osaka Prefecture. She is alleged to have caused serious injury to her daughter. The police included a request for "severe penalties". According to the police, the mother confessed to the violence, saying she did it to stop the child crying in the night because she thought that it would disturb the neighbors. She had been worried about the future and stress was building up, too.
The alleged crime occurred between the end of November and the beginning of December last year. The mother twisted the foot of the daughter who was 1 year-old at the time and further assaults involved pushing lit cigarettes into the girlfs hand. Injuries included burns and a broken thigh. The mother had been living with her de facto husband and her daughter at the time. The police say that the daughter is now under the protection of an institution, and is in rehabilitation.
When the mother visited the Matsubara city hall to make use of the temporary childcare service in the middle of last December, the city staff noticed that the daughter had a bruise. The Tondabayashi child home center was notified and the abuse was uncovered.
