A girl, 5th grade of elementary school, tells classmates of abuse
Girl and classmates go to police together

On November 28th, the Osaka Prefecture Police Settsu Department arrested Atsuya Fukunaga (38), who is a janitor at Osaka City Toyosato elementary school and lives in Shiroyama-cho in Toyonaka City, on suspicion of injuring of the daughter (10) of his girlfriend by hitting her face.

When her homeroom teacher noticed her swollen face, she concealed the abuse saying that she fell off her bicycle. But she told classmates that she had been abused. She visited the police with her five classmates and claimed she was injured.

During the investigation, the suspect Fukunaga admitted to the charge, and confessed that he had hit her several times to intending to discipline her.

According to the police, at about 9pm of September the 29th the suspect hit the girl in the face with the palm of his hand, which caused injuries to the eyelid etc. that took a week to heal. The girl is the second daughter of his girl friend (33) and attends the fifth grade of elementally school.

The second daughter lives with her mother and the elder sister. Police said that the suspect had been visiting the woman's house 1-2 times a week.

The victim explained to her classmates that she had been hit by her new Dad on October 2nd. According to the police, her classmates took her to the police station on the evening of the same day. She was put directly into temporary protection in Suita Prefecture Child Family Center.
